Beauty Hacks to Avoid

If you ask me, there are just one too many “experts” on the internet. Some of them are well-meaning and others may be a bit malicious in spreading false rumors. For whatever reason, there are some beauty tips on the internet circulating that really do not help at all.

The wise move will be for every reader to be more vigilant and to sort out the useful stuff from the rest. But this might be easier said than done. To make this task a little bit easier on you, here are some of these hacks that you want to avoid.

#1: Ditching your deodorant for lime

Zesty and earth-friendly—what else can go wrong with this hack, right? Well think twice before you actually go through with this. Why? Let me explain it this way. First of all, lime is acidic. Too much acidity on your pits can cause your skin to be irritated and form red rashes to it. So I recommend that we just stick to proven and tested  deodorants. If you want a more natural approach, just stick to crystal deos and you’ll be good to go.

#2: Mouthwash for getting rid of dandruff

The first time I read about this hack, I was almost convinced that this was the panacea to dandruff. But upon closer inspection, I found a lot of loopholes because first and most important of all, there are actually no scientific researches conducted to support that menthol, thymol, eucalyptol can banish white flakes. In fact, this alcohol based liquid wash might even exacerbate the situation. My recommendation? Just stick to your anti-dandruff formulas.

#3: Use diaper rash cream to treat acne

Yes, these creams can soothe irritated and inflamed skin—but not the ones that are in your face. These are not what you should be smearing all over your face. Just go to your local store and choose one that has salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to get to the bottom of things.
